I just received an e-mail from a postcard printing company with the title “The Truth About Marketing.”

The email’s main message was that "The most cost effective way to reach your target audience is through postcards!"

After reading the email I realized that they were not using the “most cost effective way to reach their audience” as they preached.  Instead, they had a gimmick that they were using to target unsuspecting consumers, which included a finance option to “buy now and pay later.”

If sending postcards is the best and most cost effective way to reach your target audience, why did I receive an e-mail instead of a postcard?  Probably, because reaching your audience by email is more cost effective than printing and mailing postcards.

Don’t be fooled by advertising gimmicks that do not deliver what they promise.
