Are you different or Unique enough to stand out in the Restaurant Crowd?

A Unique Selling Proposition (USP) is the fastest way to achieve HUGE growth in your restaurant. Let's take a look at the most famous USP in the food business.

"Fresh, hot pizza delivered to your door in 30 minutes or less, guaranteed."

An empire was built on less than 15 words. Domino's didn't talk about how good the Pizza was or the quality of ingredients. Their concept was Fresh, Hot Pizza - FAST!

So back to the headline question:

What separates you from your competition? What can you do for your customers that no other restaurant is doing yet? Would you spend a little time thinking about this right now?

A very creative way to make a USP is by addressing what customer's don't like about your industry.

In the cable industry, a typical complaint is having an all day appointment, for just a 20 minute install. No one likes to sit around for 4-8 hours waiting for the cable guy. A good USP in this industry would address this problem and probably set that world on fire.

Here's an exercise to show you can be creative.  Simply jot down the top 10 complaints you hear about other restaurant's and start addressing them to create your USP. Find things you do well that they don't or can't do and you might just have the next "domino effect".
